Sažetak
The paper deals with the problems and possibilities of tourist valorization of the Neretva Delta. This area is an underdeveloped agricultural part of Croatia that needs new branches of economy especially after the downfall of agriculture that had occured in the last decade. The natural beauties and the proximity of the developed tourist areas (Dubrovnik, Korčula, Makarska) make possible developing of the inicial tourism in form of excursions. The natural swamps that are full of wildlife and the various types of wading birds are preserved as the ornithological refuges. The delta also offers developing of the stationary tourism particularly at the mouth of the river Neretva (where the sediments of ooze with the healing properties exist) but also in Ploče and Baćina. The tourist development has been considered during the last few decades and the various studies were made. And now the economic necessity is pushing towards their implementing.
