Sažetak
During the archaeological research at site Kalnik- Igrišče on the floor of the bronze age house large quantities of pottery and archaeobotanical material were found. Samples have been found in very good condition carbonized by fire which probably destroyed the house.Samples analyzed in this paper were taken during the excavations in the years 2007 and 2008 from the Late Bronze Age house on the Kalnik-Igrišče site, where the first extensive archaeobotanical study for that period in this area was done. In total 69 103 carbonized fruits, seeds and other plant remains were examined. The cereals (Panicum miliaceum, Hordeum vulgare, Triticum aestivum ssp. spelta, T. turgidum ssp. dicoccon, T. aestivum ssp. aestivum., T. monococcum ssp. monococcum, Setaria italica, Secale cereale and Avena sp.) were the most numerous with 78 % of the total number of found remains. Legumes (Vicia faba, Lens culinaris and cf. Pisum sativum) do 20% and weeds (Bromus secalinus, Galium aparine etc.) 1 % of all found macroremains. The findings of the apple (Malus sylvestris Mill), oak (Quercus sp.) and cornellian cherry (Cornus mas L.) suggest that the inhabitants of Kalnik-Igrišće were not only cultivating cereals and legumes, but also collecting fruits for their nutrition from the neighboring woods. We also did the comparison between archeobotanical records of Kalnik-Igrišče site and other similar Bronze Age sites in Croatia and neighboring countries and the comparison shows many similarities in the whole area.
