Sažetak
The authors - presidents of their national laboratory societies - decided to give a brief survey on the present status, development and problems of laboratory medicine in Central European countries. Three other countries from Central and Eastern Europe did not responde. The aim of the survey on one hand was mutual information of the national societies, and the information of the Forum of European Societies of Clinical Chemistry (FESCC) on the other hand, on most important problems related to the structure, organisation, education of laboratory medicine. Comparative data will be presented on certain aspects of work load, staffing, education, financing, quality assurance, accreditation, international relations, major problems and major achievements in the different countries.
