Sažetak
Hemolysis is nowadays still among the greatest challenges in laboratory medicine. Automated detection of the degree of hemolysis is recommended for continuous successful and standardized detection and management of hemolysed specimens. Visual detection due to the low sensitivity and reproducibility is not recommended. In case hemolysed sample is received by the laboratory and if requested parameters are influenced by the hemolysis interference, such sample should always be rejected for examination and new sample should be requested. When new sample is not available, it is the responsibility of the laboratory staff to communicate the problem with the responsible physician and seek for the best solution to the best of the patient care.
