Sažetak
Family ballads could be recognised in different kind of plots, being the most frequent the casus ballad plot and the plot of order, a kind of legend plot. The common denominator of all these plots is the paradoxical style of emplotment of the family story that highlights the esthetic quality of the text. Croatian tradiitonal ballads are not any exception in this respect in comparison to Pan-European traditional ballad. 'Round' and 'flat' characters are the norm, and not the exception as in more complex literary genres (e.g. novels).
