Sažetak
Until now European astacologists have dedicated more attention to three endangered crayfish species (i.e. Austropotamobius pallipes, A. torrentium and Astacus astacus), and indeed supplied more data about their recent distribution, population status and genetics. However there is a lack of such information for other native crayfish species inhabiting European freshwaters, especially the narrow-clawed crayfish (Astacus leptodactylus sp. complex). This crayfish is naturally distributed within the eastern parts of Europe, but it has been introduced to most of the central and western European countries. A comprehensive pool of narrow-clawed crayfish specimens originating from European (Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Poland and Turkey) and Near East countries (Armenia, Russia and Ukraine) was sampled for genetic analyses. In total, 18 populations (i.e. more than 150 individuals) were analysed by amplification of fragments of mitochondrial genes coding 16S rRNA, 12S rRNA and COI. Overall, 19, 20 and 39 haplotypes were obtained for 16S, 12S rRNA and COI respectively. The observed genetic divergences between the two main lineages ranged from 1 to 5% for 16S, from 1 to 3.4% for 12S and from 5.2 to 8.4% for COI. All specimens were assigned to the two main lineages ; however the relationship between these lineages was not stable considering particular genes. Samples from Turkey and Ukraine were assigned either to one or to the other lineage or to both lineages. Research concerning nuclear DNA analyses (gene coding PEPCK) is in progress.
