Sažetak
Pelargoniums are a diverse group of plants with a wide variety of growth habits and habitats. The genus Pelargonium includes annuals and herbaceous perennials, shrubs and subshrubs, and both evergreen and deciduous plants, but most of the scented-leafed species or “scenteds” are succulent perennial shrubs in their native habitats. In vitro propagation is the standard procedure for producing virus free plants and elite mother stocks for the Pelargonium. Aim of this study was to evaluate propagation from young leaves of Pelargonium peltatum and its acclimatization in four different substrates. Direct shoot regeneration, with 80% of explants inducing shoots was obtained from in vitro-leaf discs of P. peltatum on MS-medium containing 1 mgl−1 of IBA and 5 mgl−1 of BAP. This study showed that shoots could be directly regenerated from leaf explants without the intervening callus phase. Rapid multiplication of P. peltatum with in vitro developed root helps to short time of production irrespective of the season.
