Sažetak
Eurodoc is the European Council of Doctoral Candidates and Junior Researchers. It is an international federation of 35 national organizations of PhD candidates, and more generally of young researchers from 34 countries of the European Union and the Council of Europe. Eurodoc aims to be the effective and efficient voice of doctoral candidates and junior researchers at the European level. Eurodoc will present to the participants the European interdisciplinary experiences of researchers from Lithuania and Spain which discussed theoretical fundamentals and venturing into diverse domains of interdisciplinarity. Surviving as an interdisciplinarian in applications for grants could be formidable challenge for junior researchers, because of the rigid national classification of disciplines. Communication across disciplines should be fostered through involvement of social actors. In present societies current intellectual and social challenges cannot be solved by individual authors. Namely, environmental science depends on communication, education, good policies and economics as well as on science. Team work, interdisciplinarity and links between theory and practice are necessary to solve societal problems. Ethical, political or social criteria are important for the construction and justification of the premises of level of relevance in interdisciplinary research. Necessity of crossing the borders between scientific disciplines in order to be able to solve global environmental problems has long been a subject of scientific and public debate. Integration process in interdisciplinary research orients itself on the scope of social problems, not on disciplinary research programs. In general, complex objects of research can also be treated within individual disciplines, whereby each discipline studies its objects from the standpoint of its own specific interests and by using its own special methodological approach. The advantage of this approach is that in disciplinary research quality criteria and procedures are well-defined. In interdisciplinary research there are no such well- acknowledged means. Nowadays, interdisciplinarity is used as often as mobility. Interdisciplinary career path of junior researcher is a topic that is high on the agenda of policy makers in Europe where worries about skills shortage are growing. Although studies on career paths of EU researchers’ records science field of highest degree ; they still do not have insights in a number of the interdisciplinary activity in EU. Career path is not evident only through change of sector or employer, but through themes and projects on which researcher is working on.
