Sažetak
Joint manifestations in HO are arthritis and arthralgia, which can occur in all the joints, but most often asymmetrically affect the joints of the lower extremities. Thickening of the distal parts of the extremities, found in 52 patients (68.4%), occurred due to periosteal piles. Voluminous hands were observed in all the patients and that phenomena characterizes the disease. Swollen joints, perimalleolar edema and thickening of the distal parts of the extremities resemble other disease (i.e. tumor, osteomyelitis, syphilis, Reiter’s syndrome, psoriasis, lymphangitis, myxedema, thrombophlebitis, Caffey’s disease, Engel’s disease, hypervitaminosis A, RA, thyroid acropathy etc.) that must be taken into account.
