Sažetak
Objectives: We investigated role of ocular vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (oVEMP) as supportive diagnostic toll in assessing lesions of vestibuloocular pathways in patients with relapse remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS). Patients and methods: 60 patients treated in our Referral Centre for Demyelinating Diseases with established diagnosis of relapse remitting multiple sclerosis were included into study. Control group were 16 healthy subjects. EDSS was calculated in patient with RRMS and oVEMP was performed in both groups. Evoked response consisted of two components, N10 and P13. Latencies and amplitude of both components of evoked response were analyzed. Results: Statistically significant prolongation of latencies was found in group of RRMS patients (p<0.05) for N10 response on right and left side. There was also latency prolongation for P13 wave on right side. Statistical significance was not reached for left P13 latency. Amplitude difference between RRMS and healthy control group was not observed. Conclusion: Ocular vestibular evoked myogenic potentials are useful neurophysiology method in evaluation of brainstem lesions in patients with relapse remitting multiple sclerosis.
