Sažetak
The design of supramolecular architectures by self-assembly of small building blocks has become a major research area. While hydrogen bonding often controls supramolecular organic structures in both natural snd synthetic systems, metal complxes are more commonly assembled through covalent interactions. More recently, the combination of both has proved to be particularly useful for assembly of complex structures. In this contribution we focused on Ni(II) diamide complexes with the aim to explore the interplay of the presence of different oxoanions on final dimensionality of supramolecular assembly. We synthesized three nickel(II) complexes with N-aralkyliminodiacetamide ligands (Rada) namely [Ni(Peada)2](NO3)2 (1), [Ni(Peada)2](SO4).2H2O (2) and [Ni(Bnada)2](NO3)2.2H2O (3) (Pe = phenylethyl ; Bn = benzyl). The crystal structures consist of octahedral complex cations, with two N-aralkyliminodiacetamide ligands being coordinated as κ3-N, O, O', and oxoanions ; in (2) and (3) water molecules are also employed in crystal structure stabilization. In none of these (1-3) the amide moieties are involved into either the self-complementary or R24(8) tetrameric motifs, but instead extended ring motifs having oxoanions as linkers between the amide functionalities from two neighbouring molecules are observed.
