Sažetak
These days, sea pollution with various organic and inorganic matters has become an increasing problem. Irrespective of their origin, the pollutants, especially those in the harbours, have hazardous effect on the living marine organisms. The mullet (Mugil cephalus) inhibits the harbours rich in food. Very often coast crab (Carcinus aestuar Nardo) is found there too. Our study was aimed at elucidating the action of oxidative enzymes (LDH, SDH and NADPH) in the gills, liver, stomach and intestines of the mullet (Mugil cephalus) and coast crab (Carcinus aestuari Nardo) from two sites: the marina and harbour of Zadar and southeast of the Krbela island. The activity of NADPH and particularly of LDH and SDH showed increased activity, notably on the gills and liver of both species from the Zadar marine and harbour. LHD action on the gills, liver, stomach and intestines of coast crab (Carcinus aestuari Nardo) from the Zadar site was more marked than on mullet (Mugil cephalus) from the same group. The action of oxidative enzymes on the studied organs of mullet (Mugil cephalus) and coast crab (Carcinus aestuari Nardo) living at the mentioned Zadar site showed the effect of heavy metals, oil and oil derivatives, kaolin, chlorinated hydrocarbons and pesticides on the body.
