Sažetak
Social networks are playing an increasingly important role as a source of information for tourists and as an aid in choosing a destination. While new ways of communicating are becoming more and more widespread among users, social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn are clearly reaping the most success. This paper aims to explore the extent to which social networks are used and the extent of their impact on tourism. Secondary sources of information were used to understand how wide-spread is the use of this increasingly popular marketing channel. The results of the paper show that social networks, as a communication channel, are not being used to any significant extent, despite being a vital and indispensable link in the promotion chain. The impact of social networks on modern business operations is huge, and enterprises are recommended to exploit social networks if they are to maintain their competitiveness on the increasingly discerning tourism market.
