Sažetak
We live in age in which the discourse about identity of human beings needs to be inquired on different levels, in different contexts and under the different aspects. What is the roll of identity in our individual and social (political) life and how to evaluate thinking and action of human beings in cosmopolitan age? Searching for quite new approaches to the similar question we mentioned above, the author has decided to interpret such a theme following K. A. Appiah – a contemporary Anglo-Saxon philosopher, whose roots originally draw from Africa – Ghana. In his very famous work entitled The Ethics of Identity Appiah try to explain and evaluate modus vivendi of contemporary, cosmopolitan man who, as Appiah puts it in his remarkable work, lives according the Mill’s utilitarian axiom. Personal and general history in both, personal and social levels shared grate roll in defining identity of human beings. Every human being who really wants to know him- or herself has to know how to deal with the personal history. Following previous claim, in this paper the author tend to explore and explicate what is the base in which philosophers such as Appiah grounding their opinion about human identity. The author has paid attention on methodology of the explication, too, as it follows: - in the first part the author in, a breath, intent to situate the theme on a Appiah’s line ; - the context of second part will be oriented towards problem of cosmopolitanism in Appiah perception - in the third part and following Appiah thinking, the author will explore why some people believe that globalization means threat to the homogeneity.
