Sažetak
This thesis focuses on the Routing and Wavelength Assignment (RWA) problem in transparent optical networks aimed at reducing the damage from high-power jamming attacks. Such attacks exploit inherent vulnerabilities of optical fibers, amplifiers and switches, and are particularly harmful due to the possibility of attacking capabilities transferring from the original attacker to the attacked connections. The extents of damage from these attacks depend on the logical topology of the network, so considering attacks can improve network in the network planning process can increase network safety. In this work, we propose new optimization criteria and incorporate them into the RWA problem while maintaining its standard objective of minimizing wavelength usage. The results show that intelligent arrangement of connections which considers the possibility of attacks improves network safety in an economically viable manner, without using expensive specialized equipment.
