Sažetak
The new Croatian legislation has recognized the importance of maintenance of structures, and is regulating it, thus confirming a broader social significance of the regard for the existing infrastructure. Present situation imposes that the work is planned and executed only when if can no longer be postponed, inspection and preventive maintenance being neglected. Physical Asset Management includes activities which optimize the exploitation of infrastructure, achieving maximum benefits over a predefined period of time. The system is based on the existing business postulates, and must be adopted to the circumstances of ownership, management and the type of infrastructure. This paper describes the principles of organization of the Physical Asset Management business, and explains the need to introduce specialized tools as support in short term and long term decision making with regard to investments into infrastructure management.
