Sažetak
During the last half decade with an insight into the celebration of St Patrick’s Day in Zagreb, one can observe a stronger popularity of Irish culture in general in Croatia, particularly thanks to the Irish Maiden – a dance group with mostly Croatian members. A leader of the group, an Irishman settled in Zagreb, realised his carrier through popularisation of his personal and national identity in the unity with his wife’s Croatian and more locally, Istrian identity. As experts, dancers, musicians, teachers, architects, art historians, web masters, consultants for different aspects of cultural production, their lifestyle as couple inspires a number of young members particularly of the dance group as well as a lot of other users of their ideas, knowledge and creativity. How can good relations, sympathies between two different nations and cultures be realised and strengthened through the personal contact, life and activities of individuals? How individuals can contextualise place and time for dance and gathering? How dance is accepted in the “new” community? How is it transformed? I will look for answers through the fieldwork in Zagreb, in contacts with leaders and members of the dance group Irish Maiden, members of the Croatian-Irish Cultural Society and data over the Internet, website and Facebook profile of the Croatian- Irish Unity.
