Sažetak
The economic impact assessment indicates great importance of tourism for Croatian economy. Available tourism statistics in Croatia do notencompass all economic impacts of tourism. Difficulties in measuring tourism impacts derive from the fact that tourism is not presented as a separate sector in national accounts. Starting with the problem of determining the contribution of tourism to Croatian economic development, this paper presents Tourism Satellite Account as a foundation and a starting point for quantification of the impact of tourism on national economies. Namely, the assessment of tourism economic impacts is based on quantitative methods ; stochastic and deterministic. One of the deterministic methods is TSA (Tourism Satellite Account) ; instrument designed to measure demand for tourist`s goods and services, to analyse supply of these goods within a country and assess the relation between supply and other economic activities. The paper clarifies TSA methodology with the purpose of demonstrating its basic concepts. The objective of this paper is to determine direct and indirect impacts of tourism on economic growth and development in the Republic of Croatia by implementing TSA methodology. An economic impact assessment allowe tourism to remain one of the main drivers of the economic development.
