Sažetak
Since it was developed inbreeding has mainly been estimated from pedigree data. Runs of homozygosity (ROH) were recently proposed as more accurate estimates of inbreeding. In this study we estimated inbreeding depression on sperm quality traits in Austrian Fleckvieh cattle using inbreeding coefficients derived from pedigree (Fped) and genomic information (ROHs of various length: FROH1 , FROH2 , FROH4, FROH8, and FROH16). Semen quality data of 27694 ejaculates from 602 bulls collected in two Austrian Artificial insemination centres (Oberösterreichische Besammungsstatin GmbH Hohenzell and NÖ. Genetik Rinderbesamungs GmbH Wieselburg) were analysed separately. Sperm quality was defined with volume, sperm concentration, percentage of viable spermatozoa and motility. Bulls were genotyped with Illumina Bovine 50k SNP chip. We used mixed model with a bull as a random effect and all other effects (age of the bull, semen collector, month and year of collection and number of ejaculates per bull per day), including pedigree and genomic inbreeding coefficients (covariable), as fixed effects. Significant inbreeding depression was only observed for the volume in Wieselburg data set (p<0.05 for Fped, and p<0.01 for FROH1 and FROH2) while all other estimates were not significant.
