The article describes the empowering potential of performance by drawing on theories of theatre anthropology and interactive theatre. By focusing on the forum theatre of Augusto Boal and interactive performances of the Danish performance duo SIGNA, the article illustrates how both theatrical phenomena bear the potential to foster social and political change.
