Sažetak
Active travel to and from school is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. Unfortunately, the majority of today's children and adolescents do not begin their day in an active way. Despite the fact that walking and cycling have beneficial influence on health, environment, traffic and the society, cars and public transport have replaced active travel to and from school. To this end, various intervention schemes are being implemented around the world with a view to promoting active travel among children and adolescents. The aim of the thesis is to review the selected intervention schemes for encouraging active travel and assess their effectiveness. It involves six studies, four of which observe an increase in children and adolescents opting for active travel. Nevertheless, it is difficult to determine which of the intervention schemes is the most effective and thus appropriate for general use since different methodical procedures were applied in the studies.
