Sažetak
Respiratory diseases are common in reptiles, especially in chelonians and snakes. Nebulisation is a supportive therapy indicated in rhinitis, sinusitis, tracheitis, pneumonia, and aspergillosis. An aerosol is a suspension of ingredients that can be nebulised into a fine mist for inhalation. This method was accepted from human medicine. The optimal particle size for deposition in respiratory tract is between 0.5 and 10 micrometers, depending of the depth of respiratory tract. Depending on the disease etiology it is possible to use various types of medications as inhalation agents, such as antibiotics, antimycotics, mucolytic agents, bronhodilators etc. The advantages of this type of treatment are a direct application of the medicine to the affected area, and the reduction of systemic toxicities associated with parenteral administration of some medicines.
