Sažetak
Since the first report in 1965, cyclopalladated complexes of azobenzenes have been widely studied due to their application in organic synthesis and in design of new catalysts, bioactive compounds and liquid crystalline materials. Recently, there is an increasing interest in multiply cyclopalladated complexes since such compounds show interesting photochemical and photophysical properties and can be potentially useful for new technologies. We have synthesized an extensive series of new dicyclometallated azobenzenes (DPA) complexes with 1, 1'-bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene (DPPF) as auxiliary ligands, Figure 1. These complexes have been obtained by two different preparative methods: liquid-assisted grinding i.e. grinding of solid reactants in the presence of a small quantity of liquid phase and conventional solution-based reactions. The structures of complexes have been determined by the combination of NMR spectroscopy in solution and in the solid state and powder X-ray diffraction experiments. The experimental investigation was complemented by the quantum-chemical calculations in order to provide rational explanation of the complexes structures by comparing their energies with those of other conceivable isomers. New products have been additionally characterized by ESI mass spectra and UV-vis and fluorimetric spectroscopies. UV-vis spectra have been rationalized by the time dependent DFT calculations.
