Sažetak
Vibriosis caused by Vibrio anguillarum is a major limiting factor in successful rearing of sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax L.). This study derives from investigation of epizootiology; bacteriology and pathomorphology of vibriosis in cage cultivated sea bass along the Adriatic coast. The disease usually breaks during the spring when the water temperature increases or during the fall when the water temperature decreases. The outbreaks are influenced by many stress factors like fish manipulation, changing the cages nets, overcrowding or poor hygiene as well as intensive feeding. Vibriosis appears in its different forms ranging from acute septicaemia attacks, acute to subacute hemorrhagic septicaemia forms until chronic granulommatous inflammation. The affected fish swam slowly at the water surface, separates from the lot and were reluctant to eat. Pathoanatomically fish had skin discoloration, presence of erythema on the fin basis on the vent in acute and subacute cases, while in more advances cases ulcerations were noted as well. Internal examination revealed haemorrhages on the liver, stomach, intestine and enlarged spleen. Bacteriological examination of liver, kidney and spleen yielded repeatedly Vibrio anguillarum serotype O1 differing biochemically just in few properties.
