Sažetak
Color reproduction device calibration is the procedure of changing the device’s color reproduction characteristics in order to bring the device to a state in which it behaves optimally. Although modern workflows involve color management and devices can be characterized, it was shown that well calibrated devices can be characterized with higher precision. This paper investigates the possibility of applying some good calibration practices on an RGB printer, i.e. a device which does not provide direct control over its colorants. Among different calibration methods, the G7 calibration method along with the G7 definition of gray was chosen in this study. As the method was shown to provide good results on a wide range of CMYK devices, the method and its tools had to be adapted to RGB devices. Initial results have shown partial fulfilment of the calibration task. The test image’s gray tones appeared more neutral to the observers. The gray scale tones, although not completely accurate on the numerical evaluation, were fairly improved. However, the preservance of aimed tone scale range failed due to improper test point distribution. In the second attempt, the appropriate points were chosen and more satisfying results were obtained. Improvements were also obtained by the use of more accurate local models for determining aimed device inputs.
