Sažetak
The purpose of this paper was to determine whether HRM practices differ depending on the modality of the relationship between HRM and trade unions, through the survey among large Croatian enterprises. Empirical results confirmed both the union-substitution and the union-HRM synergy hypotheses. Results showed that non-unionized enterprises (those with Total HRM strategy) and those with the high level of union-HRM partnership (those with Union-HRM synergy strategy) take better care of their employees than enterprises with the high level of union-HRM disagreements (those with Union-HRM dualism strategy) or enterprises with powerful unions (those with Union dominance strategy).
