Sažetak
This paper presents results of the accuracyresearch of the new fully compatible quadrilateral (NFCQ) shell finite element method. Introducing the NFCQ shell finite element, authors detected numerical phenomenon named numerical curvature of the space. This phenomenon appeared in plane stress systems subjected to concentrated or quasi-concentrated forces applied directly or indirectly. It depends functionally on the mesh size. This paper gives also results of the static and dynamic eigen problems, which show there does not sxist lower spectrum limit because the first eigen value tends to zero if mesh density increases. Increasing of degrees of freedom of the system, leads to the conclusion that the vector space of the system is behaving as infinite space. Analytical solutions of the equilibrium problems in infinite space show that under the concentrated or quasi-concentrated loads, displacement is infinite. The NFCQ shell finite element method gives the same solution as the analytical one if mesh size is sufficiently dense. Therefore the phenomenon of the numerical curvature of the space is numerical simulation of the physical reality. While modelling plane stress problems subjected to concentrated forces one must respect this fact. Aforementioned facts are verified on carefully selected examples.
