Sažetak
Library services and resources are continually reviewed to ensure that they meet the needs of the researchers. Bibliometric indicators can assist researchers in determining the nature of their influence and impact of their research. In recent years, demands for bibliometric analyses have risen considerably at the universities and research institutes across the world. Consequently, library staff began to offer bibliometric service to meet their users requests. Introduction of the bibliometric services in academic and research libraries enhances research support and strengthens the library and its visibility to researchers. Ruđer Bošković Institute Library has recognized bibliometrics as an opportunity to offer various services to its patrons and Institute's management and thereby to raise the importance of library within the Institute. For almost four years now Library offers a service of issuing bibliometric certificates to its patrons for purposes of scientific advancements (certificates about number of published papers which are indexed in certain databases (eg. Web of Science, Scopus, Current Contents etc.), certificates about number of citations in Web of Science and Scopus databases and certificates about Impact Factors of journals in which authors published their papers). Library is also providing Institute’s management with bibliometric analysis for various purposes. In 2008 Library created a database of papers published under RBI’s address and indexed in Web of Science database. Data were initially downloaded from Web of Science database and every paper was checked and attached to one or more RBI scientists, which are, furthermore, attached to certain department. Database is periodically updated with new records as well as with new citation data. In this way Library gained a powerful tool for various bibliometric analyses. The overview of the presence of the bibliometric services in academic and research libraries will be given, based on the content analysis of library Web sites. The impact of such kind of services of the improvement of library visibility and partnership between librarians and researchers will be analyzed.
