Sažetak
Syntagme sustainable development is implying harmonized usage of resources, investing, tehnical development and institutional development, with emphasis on maintaining equilibrium between usage, savings and regeneration of all resources as well as comprehension that incoming generations are greatly dependent on nowdays activity. Sustainable development is directly related to economic growth and presents one of the grave objectives concerned by European Union and Croatian membership in European Union requires alignmentation to the European Union laws concerning this field. Purpose of this paper is to present the importance of sustainable development implementation as a fundation for further economic development. Introductory part is giving an overview on a definition and instance of the term sustainable development and arguments why it comes along with actuality during longer time period. Further focus in the paper is on conditions needed for efficient generation of economic and sustainable development. Also, terms of smart- and including- development are introduced as a parts of sustainable development strategies. Trends of sustainable developments are presented in elected coutries of European Union and in Croatia. Importance of detailed subject analysis is visible from requirements of Croatia to annex to the trends of European Union, prospective Croatia is one of the countries which in its shortly future is going to be under the shelter of this european organization.
