Sažetak
The present study demonstrates the ability of Croatian natural zeolite and Na-form zeolite to remuve of iron form acid aqueous solutions. Therea are two reasons for the choice of this type of sorbent. One of them is connected with their well-known cation exchange properties. The second one is the presence of industrial deposit of this material in Croatia. The exchange kinetics has also been studied and rate equations will be proposed consequently. The sorption of Fe3+ by naturale and Na form zeolite has been investigated under following conditions: 100 mg/L Fe3+, pH value 1.90, equilibrium time ranged from 30 to 300 min. Different kinetic models were used to describe Fe3+ sorption by naturale and Na-form zeolite. Models evaluated included and heterogeneous kinetcs, modified Freundlich and Elovich models, parabolic diffusion and heterogeneous diffusion models. Satisfactory conformity between experimental data and model-predicted values was expressed by correlation coefficient (R). All the models described the Fe3+ sorption process adequately, with correlation coefficient values ranging from 0.9623 to 0.9984.
