Sažetak
Suppressing all forms of corruption is a precondition for socio-economic development and the Croatian EU membership. Lack of political will for effective implementation of anti-corruption policy, as measured by expert organisations, makes the existing situation even more challenging. In many transitional economies corruption is often not regarded as a serious crime, but rather as a vehicle to accelerate business and gain comparative advantage. To many it is therefore a surprise that this year Holcim-Croatia, company specialized in production of construction materials, has issued a call for donations giving priority to projects dedicated to the fight against corruption. We will try to explore the reasons behind this rare philanthropic action.
