Sažetak
The Mediterranean coastline is unevenly saturated with tourism facilities and services. It is interesting to view this occurrence through the aspect of nautical tourism and marinas. The Mediterranean is continuously developing as a world-class tourist destination, despite the fact that a minor part of its coastline is over-saturated, resulting in negative tourism-related effects. Conversely, a large part of the coast is developing under conditions that make it possible to experience nature. This underlines the need to manage development. The marinas along the eastern coast of the Adriatic have taken over the role of agents of local development. As such, they foster the development of local small business that prevails on the Adriatic coast. The social aspects of sustainable development are based on enhancing collaboration and sustainable coexistence, linking interests, and undertaking intensive action in this field. Teamwork, in its broadest sense, passes beyond the scope of economic agents, and it is increasingly called for in the domain of broader economic integrations. In keeping with the latest European trends, macro development is undergoing a reorganisation that will enable it to be realised through local development. In this development, the state is gradually taking on a partnership role, and importance of the local community is steadily growing. Supranational economic development in Europe is making the process of eliminating borders all the more meaningful. The next phase of development involves interregional integration, the integration of localities and people of compatible interests. For this to take place, it is necessary to strengthen and expand local development and to reach a transparent level of development. In this sense, marinas are encouraging teamwork throughout their localities, and collaboration among all participants. Parallel to marinas as vital agents of development, the fundamental criteria of sustainable development of the entire locality are also being developed systematically. This type of collaboration provides a good example of teamwork at the broader local level. Given all the theories of mutual development, this is a realistic form of development, because the stakes are obvious and clearer than ever before. To obtain a long-term dimension, development must be shaped and studied, and this is the task of theoretical and scientific research to which this paper seeks to contribute.
