Sažetak
Vegetables are a food product rich in minerals, enzymes and vitamins and as such should be accessible to everyone. Red beet (Beta vulgaris var. conditiva) represents vegetables with great therapeutic importance, it is applied in treatments of anemia, jaundice and hepatitis, and has the ability to clean kidneys and gallbladder. The aim of investigation was to determine effect of organic and mineral fertilization on red beet zinc content. The field fertilization trial was set up in 2003 in Zumberak area to investigate the effect of fertilization on the Zn content of red beet. It was conducted using the Latin square method with four treatments: control (without fertilization), manure (50 t ha-1), 500 kg NPK 5-20-30 ha-1, 1000 kg NPK 5-20-30 ha-1. Zinc was determined by AAS method and the data were statistically analyzed using SAS software. The highest content of dry matter in red beet was determined in the control treatment (71 g kg- 1). The highest zinc content was also determined in the control treatments, in fresh weight 0.42 mg Zn 100 g-1, and in dry matter 60 mg Zn 100 g-1.
