Sažetak
In addition to temperature, Zn availability is affected by content of organic matter, P, Ca and Mg, and specially by pH and active lime content in soil. Zinc participates in a number of important metabolic pathways in the plant, with difficulty to uptake and translocate through the plant. Grapevine has a very low threshold of tolerance to Zn deficiency and values in leaves are often below the optimal range (25-150 mg Zn kg-1), while over 450 mg Zn kg-1 is considered toxic. Therefore it is necessary to use Zn foliar fertilization. The aim of research was to determine effect of foliar application of the same amount of Zn, at different active lime content in the soil on Zn content in grapevine leaves. Zinc foliar fertilization trial was carried out in 2006 and 2007 in the Plešivica vinegrowing region, near Zagreb (Croatia) on the variety Sauvignon Blanc on calcareous soils divided into three groups: Low lime <20 % , Medium lime 20-25 % and High lime >25 % CaO. The research results indicate that the foliar application of the same amount of Zn (210+420+420=1050 g Zn ha-1) on soils with different active lime content significantly affected the Zn content in grapevine leaves. Significantly higher content was determined on the low active lime soils (79.65 mg Zn kg-1) compared to middle and high lime soils (54.87 to 57.65 mg Zn kg-1). Furthermore, in relation to the earliest samplings (39.67 to 54.75 mg Zn kg-1), significantly greater amount of Zn was determined at the end of the growing season (104.48 mg Zn kg-1), after the three foliar applications. Comparing wet (2006) and dry (2007) years, the higher Zn content was determined in wet 2006 (95.43 mg Zn kg-1) than in dry 2007 year (28.07 mg Zn kg-1).
