Sažetak
Adapted farming tractors for transportation of the so-called smallwood, particularly of a part of industrial wood produced in forest thinning, are very significant. Currently, the Public Enterprise Hrvatske šume, which manages 80% of the Croatian forest areas, uses about 400 such tractor assemblies. Their basic principle of operation is that tractors are equipped with winches for skidding on hillsides and with semi-trailers for forwarding in lowlands. These semi-trailers can be equipped with loading/unloading cranes and winches for wood transportation. After the use of the first such imported assembly in 1968, in 1972 the manufacturing and use of the Croatian assembly started. Its basic characteristics are a mechanical crane and a mechanical winch. In mid-eighties, the number of these vehicles reached its maximum of 70 pieces. After 25 years this assembly is still in use, but its technological obsoleteness and high application costs encouraged the introduction of new, more up-to-date options.
This paper describes a part of comparative and complex testing of this assembly and two others with semi-trailers equipped with hydraulic cranes and hydraulic winches. The described research refers to the analysis of morphological features as a significant technical indicator for the selection of the best option. The characteristics of these three variants were entered into 27 semi-trailers database. Morphological analysis was carried out by observing the length, width, track width, height, clearance, weight capacity, highest crane ranges and highest load capacities against semi-trailer mass.
Morphological analysis was carried out by exponential regression model with the use of the computer program developed at the Faculty of Forestry in Zagreb.
