Sažetak
Autoimmune thyroid disease (AITD) are disorders of organ function that occur as a result of immune responses directed against its own thyroid follicular cells in the presence of circulating antibodies specific for thyroid antigens and the activation of cellular immune mechanisms, such as release cytokines, lymphocytic infiltration and cell destruction. Regulatory T cells (Tregs) play a crucial role in peripheral T-cell tolerance. Development and function of these cells depends on the transcription factor FoxP3, and can be reprogrammed during the selection in the thymus or induced in peripheral tissues. Their deficiency may trigger the development of autoimmune syndrome: insulin-dependent diabetes, thyroiditis, colitis, arthritis, gastritis, and occurrence of allergic diseases, and their activation can prevent the immune response against tumors and intracellular pathogens. Aim of the study: was to investigate the percentage of T regulatory cells by flow cytometry in patients with autoimmune thyroid disease during pregnancy, and the resulting values compared with clinical status and antibody. Results: During pregnancy, the percentage of T cells changes. Autoimmune thyroid disease is also changing the percentage of these cells in the peripheral blood. Conclusion: Tracking changes in the percentage of T regulatory cells may contribute to better understanding of complex mechanism of organ-specific autoimmune diseases and the interdependence of hormonal and immunological network during pregnancy.
