Sažetak
Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) rate in the treatment of AMI during initial hospitalization in Croatia in the beginning of 2000s was increasing, but Croatian patients had lesser opportunities for such treatment than patients in the developed and some transitional countries. In those years, in Croatia, the accessibility to such treatment was lower for older patients, women and patients living outside the capital. Croatian Primary PCI Network founded in 2005, with clear guidelines-based therapy decision-making contributed to the treatment progress of STEMI patients. In spite of the present PCI rate, which is lower compared to other developed and some transitional countries, resources in Croatia are now more often used for the treatment of high-risk AMI patients than for elective, less sick ones. It seems that some inequalities in Croatia are disappearing by the Network foundation.
