Sažetak
The paper is aimed to present the influence of physical activity on cardio - metabolic health as well as to present the importance of early cardiovascular disease prevention by regular physical activity. The presented results are based on systematic review of the scientific literature published with regard to the influence of physical activity on risk factors for the development of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. Having in mind the generally accepted fact that chronic diseases have their source early, in childhood and adolescence, particularly concerning is the increasing prevalence of inactivity during adolescence. With school age increases the prevalence of obesity, related to the level of body activity. Obesity is connected with the risk of development a series of diseases, such as coronary heart disease, arterial hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipoproteinemia, liver diseases and some malignant diseases more frequently occurring in obese people. The mechanisms of influence of the regular physical activity and exercise on obesity, particularly visceral fat, and other risk factors are presented. The results of recent studies aimed at investigating possible effects of regular body activity on a group of risk factors in children and adolescents including homocysteine, fibrinogen, C-reactive protein, plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 and endothelial dysfunction, are discussed. Regarding physical activity, the period of childhood and adolescence is very important from the aspects of public health. However, intervention exercise programs should not be limited to younger age groups, but must encompass all age groups within a population
