Sažetak
The aim of the present study was the analytical evaluation of the biosensor-based methods for the measurement of electrolytes and substrates in the whole blood using Stat Profile Critical Care Xpress, (Nova Biomedical, Walthman, MA, USA) multiprofile analyzer and their comparison with routine laboratory methods. The imprecision and inaccuracy of the electrolytes and substrates measurement in the whole blood using STP CCX analyzer met the analytical quality specification required for near patient testing. The comparison results showed very close correlation between arterial whole-blood measurement on STP CCX analyzer and standard laboratory methods in arterial plasma or venous serum (r>0.9), althought slope and intercept values showed analytical differences in electrolytes measurement. The measurement of ionized cations (calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium) in the different sample types (arterial whole blood, arterial plasma, venous serum samples) using STP CCX analyzer showed no significant mean differences (p>0.05). The STP CCX multiprofile point-of-care analyzer provides rapid and accurate simultaneous direct whole blood measurement of ionized electrolytes with activity-based ion-selective electrodes together with glucose, urea and creatinine measurement with biosensor-based substrate specific electrodes. The obtained whole blood results were comparable to the standard laboratory methods in arterial plasma or venous serum samples.
