Sažetak
Most synthetic chemists rely on traditional solvochemical reactions, even though many of these reactions are achievable in the solid state. Over the last decade, mechanochemical synthesis, such as grinding with a mortar and pestle or with a ball mill, has become popular in the area of supramolecular and organometallic chemistry. We demonstrate that liquid assisted grinding (LAG) is a fast and effective synthetic method for the preparation of coordination compounds of 4- aminobenzoic acid and 4-aminoacetophenone with copper(II) chloride (1 and 2, respectively), and tetrachlorocuprates of the same amines (3 and 4, respectively). Single crystals were successfully prepared for three compounds (1, 2 and 4), and their crystal and molecular structures were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Molecules of 1 and 2 are linked by hydrogen bonds between free carboxylic (for 1) or acylic groups (for 2) on the periphery of the molecules, and as such they create a supramolecular chain structure with alternating covalent and hydrogen bonds. Both compounds exhibit centrosymmetric dimers characteristic for hydrogen-bonded supramolecular linkage of compounds posessing a carboxyllic functional group.
