Sažetak
Phytoplankton, as one of the main primary producers in aquatic biotopes have important role in energy flux and matter circulation. They are often used in studies related to water quality because of their numerous advantages (cosmopolitan with high diversity, good indicators of environmental changes etc.). Due to their short life cycle, every change of ecological factors in the environment will show its effect on abundance and composition of algal communities in very short time. Investigation was aimed to analyze phytoplankton assemblages in relation to environmental factors and ecological status of two Croatian karstic lakes Kozjak and Prošće (NP Plitvice Lakes)as well in Jiuzhaigou Lake.
