Sažetak
Electrostatic potential at the inner surface plane (Ψ0) is the consequence of the charge (ion/electron) transfer at the electrical interfacial layer and is therefore one of the main parameters characterizing the interface. Ψ0 could be measured by Single Crystal Electrodes (SCrE) and provide information on the state of charged groups bound to the surface. In addition, together with adsorption and electrokinetic data, Ψ0 may serve in evaluation of equilibrium parameters describing the interfacial equilibrium. SCr-AgX electrodes were used to measure the Ψ0 as a function of ion activities. The Ψ0(pX) function was found to be linear and slightly dependent on the ionic strength. Effect of pH on the electrokinetic data and mass titrations suggested that charge transfer at silver halide surfaces is determined not only by pX but is also significantly influenced by charging of the aqueous interfacial layer. The SCrE is the framework to study the more complex, environmentally significant, charge transfers occurring at the charged interfaces.
