Sažetak
Dubrovnik has been cultivating cruise ship tourism for more than 165 years, and from the eighties till today it has become an important tourist destination for cruise ships docking. In Dubrovnik cruise ships dock at two sites: at the anchorage Lokrum in front of the Old port, and at the Gruž port. In addition to cruise ships, Dubrovnik also cherishes the tradition of nautical tourism development in terms of boat or ship rental to sailors. The Gruž passenger port is a natural harbour and is located in a well protected bay. At the entrance of the Gruž seaport there are no underwater reefs, the anchorage area is located between the Dakse Island and mainland, and can be expended towards north onto the entire channel formed among the islands of Koločep, Lopud and Šipan. Dubrovnik has identified this form of tourism as backbone of its development, and has accordingly launched a project to build the port infrastructure and superstructure. Construction of the modern Gruž passenger port will make Dubrovnik one of the world's elite cruise ship destination. Coordination and establishment of collaboration among all participants, from the Dubrovnik Port Authority to the County of Dubrovnik Port Authority, the City of Dubrovnik, Dubrovnik Tourist Board, travel agencies, shipping agents and local communities, is essential.
