Sažetak
The problem of recognition of industrial buildings as part of building heritage is solved decades ago, and the most prominent sites are include on UNESCO heritage list. On few examples in Zagreb, Croatia it is going to be presented the problem of the reconstruction and revitalization of abounded industrial complexes for new use. Focused examples are listed building, i.e. protected cultural heritage, built in diverse urban situation. After abandoned pruduction they are in different state of conversion, and therefore clerealy showing full potentials of such revitalizations, as well as complex problems needed to be solved. Zagreb Tannery was built (1869, 1890, 1900) close to Medveščak stream north of Upper town. After intensive ecological protest it stopped with work. At the middle of XXth century newly established Glypthotek was housed in the complex. Such revitalization is one of the earliest transformations of industrial buildings for cultural purposes. Similar transformation is in the process in the Lower-town. Former Tobacco factory (1882) is going to be transformed to Croatian Historic museum by the project of architect Plavec, Zdenkovic Gold, Zdenkovic (and Kahrovic) who also made project for the new business complex of the owner, Adris group. There is still opened problem of City slaughterhouse and Cattle market were built at the southeast periphery of Zagreb, 1928-1931 by German architect Freese. Now abounded and in processes of solving ownership they are getting demolished. The potential in such and similar places is recognized primarily by (sub)-cultural scene and used temporarily for such occasions.
