Sažetak
In this paper an effect of different crack size on fracture criterion of pressure vessel materials is presented. Using finite element procedure J-R curves for different crack size versus specimen width ratio were obtained for single-edge notched bend (SENB) specimen as well as for compact type (CT) specimen. Critical value of J gives a measure of material fracture toughness. Specimens with initial a/W ratio from 0.25 to 0.75 varying in crack size in steps of 0.125 were investigated. Several different materials, like 20MnMoNi55, 42CrMo4 and 50CrMo4, usually used in manufacturing of pressure vessels, were investigated in this research. For two of mentioned materials, numerical results were compared with experimentally obtained ones and their compatibility is visible. Higher a/W ratios are found to correspond with lower critical toughness values of materials and vice versa.
