Sažetak
Gammarus aequicauda (Martynov, 1931) (Crustacea, Amphipoda) is known as an euryhaline and euryvalent species in warm temperate waters including lagoon systems and shallow coastal waters. The estuaryne of The river Jadro is a part of Kaštela Bay (Adriatic Sea) and after construction works on the downstream watercourse of the river Jadro, some ecological conditions changed. The concrete barrier decrease the influence of freshwater which resulted with increased salinity and organic compounds. Such conditions were favourable for macroalgae, especially Enteromorpha sp. who is overgrown riversides and became a good place for amphipods because of plenty of food and protection against predators. There are no any published data which confirms the presence of G. aequicauda in Kaštela Bay but there are evidence of its absence in downstream watercourse. This is the first record of G. aequicauda in estuaryne of The river Jadro as well as for other Croatian rivers estuaries.
