Sažetak
The reduction of carbonyl compounds to alcohols is an industrially relevant reaction for the preparation of fine chemicals, perfumes, agrochemicals, and pharmaceuticals.1 Metal-catalyzed transformation from carbonyl compounds to alcohols includes H2 hydrogenation, transfer hydrogenation, or hydrosilylation.1 In particular, transfer hydrogenation is a potential useful protocol whereby unsaturated compounds can be hydrogenated without the use of molecular H2, thus enhancing operational simplicity and reducing high pressure induced risk. A large number of ruthenium(II) complexes bearing phosphines have become the most prominent catalysts for transfer hydrogenation. However, to the best of our knowledge, the syntheses of phosphine-ligated ruthenium(III) complexes and their application to transfer hydrogenation are rarely reported.
