Sažetak
Inflectional morphology is a solid indicator of the level of the morphological knowledge in preschool children. Unsufficient morphological knowledge can indicate lower level of language abilities and a risk of learning difficulties occurrence. Successful coping with the morphology depends on frequency, voice change complexity, peceptive observability and the meaning of morphology in language. Negative effect on normal morphological knowledge can be result of different factors and the most important one is premature birth. According to the results of the research, the connection between premature birth and weak morphological knowledge is in the lower gastation age and birth mass, as well as the presance of perinatal complications. This research will collect data on language knowledge and inflectional morphology on nouns and pseudowords in groups of prematurely born children and children born on time, before they start attending primary school. The results of the analisys of varinace confirm lower level of morphological knowledge in premeturely born group. Accorning to the characteristic of morphological knowledge, prematurely born examinees were more similar to the chonologicaly younger children which were born on time. We are talking abot seven year old children so we can expect some difficulties in reading and writing. The results shows the necessity of early detection of language difficulties in the population of prematurely born children. In these cases, therapy would provide adequate language development as a necesary factor in learning the school matter.
