Sažetak
A thorough normal mode analysis of the ground state cis-stilbene (cs) and eleven of its deuterated isotopomers has been recently published. Such an analysis enabled a more quantitative analysis of the resonance Raman intensities in order to quantitate immediate changes in molecular geometry following the excitation of cs. Assuming that deuteration does not affect the excited state geometry, it was in principle possible by measuring the intensities of deuterated species to reduce the number of calculable geometries. The excited state torsional dynamics of cs from resonance Raman intensities has been analyzed, where the absolute values of displacements for ten ground-state normal modes and of the slope of the excited-state torsional potential were measured.
