Sažetak
Ceramides are particularly abundant lipids in the stratum corneum lipid matrix. Lipid organization and dynamics are a consequence of chain conformational order and packing, as well as hydrogen bonding interactions. Ceramides and their behaviour are generally studied in the mixtures with other cell membrane constituting lipids eg 1 while adsorption studies of pure ceramide seem to be neglected. The adsorption process and formation of monolayer of N-oleoyl-D-erythro-sphingosine (ceramide) at a mercury electrode surface has been studied by means of phase-sensitive ac voltammetry in 0.5 M NaCl electrolyte solution, pH 8.3 (Fig. 1). Furthermore, monolayer is characterized using monolayer technique (-A isotherms) applied for investigations of monolayer packing and its elastic properties throughout determination of the limiting area occupied by molecule and surface compression modulus. Additionally, Brewster angle microscopy (BAM) is applied for characterization and optical visualization of the ceramide monolayer morphology at the air-water interface. Fractal morphology of the adsorbed layers of ceramide has been studied from the electrochemical data 2 and BAM images 3.
